Description:
Evita is a very special girl who is patiently waiting for someone to show her that the world can be a safe and wonderful place. She may not be the dog who runs up to greet you right away, but underneath her fear is a sweet girl who is learning, little by little, what it means to trust.
Evita came to us as part of a heartbreaking hoarding puppy mill case where more than 70 dogs were rescued. When she first arrived, she was so frightened that our staff could not handle her. Since then, she has made progress, and we are incredibly proud of her! She is learning that people can be kind, that she is safe, and that she doesn't have to live in fear.
Evita is still very timid and can be flighty when she becomes scared. She will need a family who understands that earning her trust won't happen overnight. Her progress may be slow, and there may be times when she takes a few steps backward. What she needs most is someone who will never give up on her and who will celebrate the little victories along the way.
Her ideal home will be calm, patient, and experienced with dogs, especially fearful or shy dogs. An adopter who understands canine body language and is willing to let Evita set the pace will give her the best chance to flourish. She needs someone who can provide structure, consistency, patience, and lots of reassurance.
She is dog friendly and may do well in a home with another friendly, confident dog. Having a canine companion may help her feel more comfortable and give her a furry friend to learn from.
Because of her timid nature, Evita is looking for an adult-only home without children where she can enjoy a quiet, predictable environment.
Evita may also benefit from professional training or behavior support as she continues building her confidence in her forever home. Her future family should be prepared to invest the time, patience, and potentially the financial resources needed to help her succeed. We are happy to provide trainer recommendations to her adopter.
Evita isn't looking for a perfect person - she's looking for a patient one.
If you have experience with shy or fearful dogs and are ready to give Evita the time she needs, you could be the person who changes her life forever.
Evita's ideal home:
- Calm, quiet adult-only household
- Another friendly, confident dog could be a wonderful match
- Patient adopter willing to build trust slowly
- Someone experienced with canine behavior and body language
- Willingness to pursue professional training/behavior support if needed
- A commitment to giving her time, consistency, and understanding
Evita has already come so far. Now she's waiting for the person who will help her take the next step. Could that person be you?
